Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) build 5512 was released to manufacturing on
April 21, 2008, and Microsoft planned to make it available to the general
public on April 29, 2008 via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.
However, due to a compatibility issue with Microsoft Dynamics Retail
Management System, the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3 was delayed.
A feature set overview has been posted by Microsoft and details new features
available separately as standalone updates to Windows XP, as well as features
backported from Windows Vista, such as black hole router detection, Network
Access Protection, and Windows Imaging Component. Microsoft is reporting that
over 1,000 fixes have been packed into SP3 along with some performance improvements as well. Internet Explorer 7 is not included as part of SP3.

With the release of SP3, retail and OEM versions of Windows XP with service
pack 3 slipstreamed into them can be installed and run with full functionality
for 30 days without a product key, after which time the user will be prompted
to enter a valid key and activate the installation. Volume license versions
still require entering a product key.

Microsoft noted SP3 can be installed on systems with Internet Explorer version
6 as well as version 7; and similarly Windows Media Player 9 Series or Windows
Media Player versions 10 or 11. Although service packs have, until now,
been cumulative, installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 requires that the PC must
at least be running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed. However, it is
possible to slipstream SP3 into the Windows XP setup files at any service pack
level including the original RTM version without any errors or issues.
Slipstreaming into Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is not supported.
SP3 does contain operating system component updates for Windows XP Media Center
Edition and for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition including security updates for .NET
Framework versions 1.0 and 1.1 which are included in these Windows XP SKUs.
However it does not include update rollups for the Windows Media Center app. in
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It also omits Windows Media Player 10
security updates although Windows Media Player 10 is included in Windows XP
Media Center Edition 2005.

There are a total of 1,073 fixes in Service Pack 3.

The Service Pack 3 RTM is integrated by Microsoft itself.

if you already have a version of maya 2008 that does not work you can try just using the crack that has been posted seperately but i would suggest downloading the whole package so we're all on the same page.

install notes

1. First Create a directory on the c: drive (even if you install maya on different drive) called FLEXLM
***so the drive should be C:\FLEXLM

2. Copy the aw.dat and awkeygen.exe file to the FLEXlm directory.
***these two files are in the crack directory, or you can download the crack above.

3. Install Maya

4. Go to start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->common utilities-->FlexLM license utilities

5. Under the system settings tab copy Ethernet address
(there may be two,look closely,try the second number first
6. Open the file aw.dat with Wordpad (not notepad) (from the directory c:\FLEXLM)
***right click on aw.dat and select "open with" then select wordpad. or open wordpad then open file from within.

7. replace the words "your host"
with the copied Ethernet address. Save and close wordpad

the default wordpad file will look like this:

8. Use the start--> run utility and type: C:\Flexlm\awkeygen.exe aw.dat
***between the awkeygen.exe and the aw.dat there should be a space there. make sure there is space or just copy and paste the above ino the run

9. Goto start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->Maya 2008-->Licensing
select "I have a license that I need to install" click next

10. select "I would like to install my license from a file" click next

11. Browse to the path of the file C:\FLEXlm\aw.dat

12. Click install

13. Restart computer
*** some computers will automatically run maya without restarting. some computers will prompt you to restart.

14. run Maya

15. If you get an error start the process again with the other Ethernet address from line 5. (that is if you had two ethernet addresses. if you still get an error then you are doing something wrong.)

i have just installed and the above steps worked perfectly for me. feel free to ask questions before installing if you do not understand any of the steps.

Call of Juarez

We know about the genre known as the spaghetti western, but is there such a thing as a pierogi western? There is now, thanks to Polish developer Techland's Call of Juarez. An Old West-themed first-person shooter, Call of Juarez fits snugly into the solid little niche that games like Gun and Red Dead Revolver have already taken up residence in. The game is similarly hard-boiled and filled with gunslinging, horseback riding, train robbery, and all the other staples of the western genre that you might have already gotten your fill of. Still, for as few risks as Call of Juarez takes across the board, it's a well-made genre exercise that's more often entertaining than not.

The game puts you into the boots of two distinct characters. Billy Candle is a half-white, half-Mexican drifter of sorts who had been on the hunt for the legendary Lost Gold of Juarez, a treasure trove of gold buried somewhere within the titular town. Unable to find it, Billy decides to come home to the town of Hope to visit his mother and stepfather--only to find them murdered upon his arrival. The other character is Reverend Ray, Billy's step-uncle and the town preacher. Ray's a reformed gunslinger now dedicated to spreading the Lord's word, but when he hears of the ruckus going on at his brother's farm and arrives to see a panicked Billy running away from the bloody corpses of his brother and sister-in-law, Ray vows vengeance, and begins tracking his step-nephew until he can satisfy it.

The dynamic of having two playable characters would be more interesting if there weren't such a distinct separation of quality between them. The more entertaining of the two, both in story and gameplay, is easily Ray. Voiced by an actor who seems to be equally channeling Sam Elliott and the creepy priest from Poltergeist II, Ray's sequences are filled with enough amazing, self-righteous bible quoting immediately followed by heavy amounts of murdering that you almost wish they'd gotten Samuel L. Jackson for this role. Heck, Ray's even got what we'll affectionately refer to as a "bible button." One of the weapons he can hold is a bible, and if you press the fire button while he's holding it, he'll start reading random passages to any nearby enemies, who will then stop for a second to listen, at which point you can shoot them in their stupid faces. That's either genius or awful--or possibly both
